Subject: RE: Trucker Strike at Shekou port Updated #2
Dear Valued Unique Customer,
I have copied below a message from our Shenzhen office in regard
to the progress of the trucker strike which has been affecting the ports at
Chiwan and Shekou. Kindly note as follows:
Outside Shekou and Chiwan terminal , the traffic in Yueliangwan road got on the move after 05:30 p.m. on 2-Jun. The road kept open to traffic till now .
Last night container delivery volume in CCT (Chiwan) and SCT (Shekou) is comparatively less , because some truck drivers still received threaten messages or phone call .
Daytime traffic is very smooth and terminal gatehouse delivery is in good order. Queuing up appears in Chiwan gatehouse this morning (May 4).
Municipal government accords great importance to the incident. Thus, the appear to be much smoother that the trucker will choose to work at this time and don't want to work at the night time. Up to today, the situation was improved under the Municipal government control.
If any further update, we will distribute accordingly.

Subject: FW: Trucker Strike at Shekou port
Dear Valued Unique Customer,
We received an alert from our ULI Shenzhen office this week as
follows:
From June.02 morning, Trucker strike is starting at Shekou
port. There have split two team, one is supporter of strike, another is
working as normal. There have around 200 truckers who support this strike
stay around the Shekou port and prevent other truckers pick up the empty
container or return full container as normal. Once they found the trucker
who work as normal ,they will come up and do some breakage to avoid any
strikebreaker action, so Shekou and Chiwan port is on the troubled waters now .
As per news report, Shenzhen Government have assigned police team to maintain
the safe and make everything in order soon. The reason for this strike
should be the trucker salary issue. At the same time, Yantian port and Da Chan
Bay is not yet affected up to now. Our office will keep close eye on
this situation and keep update if any. thanks.
The trucker strike will severely impact movement of cargo from
the Shenzhen area and have potential to spill over to other ports such as
Yantian or Da Chan Bay as well as further cause congestion problem for
containers and space that are already in short supply.
As always, we will continue to update as there is any change in
the market.
