Dear All,

This is to bring to your attention the recent developments at Chittagong Port. With reference to the attached circular, please be informed that CPA(Chittagong port authority) has issued a circular regarding collection of origin charges and effective 20th May, all origin costs have to be billed to the freight payable party. Since this a new process that is being implemented , we were waiting for a clear picture from all parties concerned prior to notifying your offices. We will update you with any new information once available.

Before the recent developments, we were collecting origin handling/cfs handling at the rate of $2.5 per cbm, plus the documentation , government stamp costs from the suppliers for freight collect shipments.

Now onwards, the origin costs will be billed as follows:

FCL :

Carrier handling : $43.40/20' , $65.15/40' , $97.73/40'hc(may be billed by some carriers directly at destination)
Agent Handling : $65/20' , $138/40' , $160/40'hc

LCL :

Agent Handling : $2.5 per cbm
Carrier Handling : $130/20' , $195/40' , $292.5/40'hc

Documentation Costs : $ 25 per HBL  (FCL)
                               $ 15 per HBL (LCL)

Above charges have to be collected fm the consignee as per the new regulations. Therefore all the above charges will be billed to your office on collect basis.
